Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – May 28 – May 29

The Conference Finals

On Friday night, the Boston Celtics will look to close out their series with the Miami Heat. Boston will be at home with a 3-2 series lead. Boston’s defense has stymied Jimmy Butler, and the Heat hasn’t had a solution to their anemic offense. Meanwhile Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Al Horford have been stellar on the offensive end for the Celtics.

We’ll see if Erik Spoelstra can find a way to get the Heat’s offense back on track. Bam Adebayo has been missing at times during this season, and with Tyler Herro being injured, the Heat needs to find some other sources of offense.

If the Heat can find a way to win on Friday night, the series will head to South Beach for a Game 7.

Top MLB Series of the Weekend

Heading into Thursday night’s game with the Tampa Bay Rays, the New York Yankees hold a 4.5-game lead over the Rays in the American League East. The lead will either be lengthened or shrunk in this pivotal four-game weekend series.

The Yankees will be without slugger Giancarlo Stanton and closer Aroldis Chapman for the series, as both are out with injuries. We’ll see if not having Stanton, who has had a great season up to this point, will slow the Yankees offense down.

We’ll see some great pitching matchups in this one, as Gerrit Cole and Luis Severino will see mound action for the Yankees, while Tampa Bay’s new ace, Shane McClanahan will square off against Severino in the series finale.

The Quest for the Cup

In the Western Conference, the Colorado Avalanche will head to St. Louis to try and eliminate the St. Louis Blues on Friday night. The Avalanche holds a 3-2 series lead. If Calgary can stave off elimination on Thursday night, they’ll head to Edmonton to fight for their playoff lives on Saturday.

In the East, the New York Rangers will host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. The Tampa Bay Lightning, who swept the Florida Panthers, will be awaiting the winner of this series.

Own Your Tomorrow

That is the slogan of investment firm Charles Schwab. This weekend’s stop on the PGA Tour is the Charles Schwab Challenge. This tournament will be played at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Coming off of last weekend’s PGA Championship, the Tour is getting back to its regular schedule.

PGA Champion Justin Thomas will highlight the tournament field this weekend. He’ll be joined by other notable players such as Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Viktor Hovland, Jordan Spieth, Will Zalatoris, Patrick Reed, Max Homa, Daniel Berger, and Jason Kokrak.
