Weekly Sports Recap & Update – May 20th Edition

What a weekend of exciting sports action! We have the second golf major of the season, some great MLB action, the NBA Playoffs, and the quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup continuing. Let’s take a look at some of the top sporting events for the upcoming weekend.

Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – May 21 – May 22

The PGA Championship

Golf’s second major teed off this weekend at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Rory McIlroy has the lead after the first round. Will Zalatoris, Justin Thomas, Kevin Na, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Smith, Tony Finau, and Patrick Reed are hanging around the top of the leaderboard. This is a long course, so we’ll see if the big hitters on tour can solve Southern Hills.

Major League Baseball Action

We’ll see a great series in the Bronx this weekend, as the New York Yankees will host the Chicago White Sox. The Yankees took three out of four last weekend in Chicago, so the Sox will be looking for some redemption. We will see if Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton can continue on their tear, or if the White Sox pitching staff can slow them down. This should be a very fun three-game set to keep an eye on.

We’ll see a key National League West division matchup as the San Francisco Giants will host the San Diego Padres for a weekend affair. Both of these teams are looking to challenge the Dodgers for the NL West crown. With the expanded playoff format this season, both teams have a great shot at a postseason berth.

NBA Playoffs

On Friday night, we’ll see Game 2 between the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors turned up the defensive pressure in Game 1, as they thoroughly dominated the Mavericks. They held Luka Doncic in check, and with him struggling, so did the Dallas offense. These two will head to Dallas for Game 3 on Sunday. The Mavs hope that they go home with the series tied at one.

On Saturday, the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics will clash in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference Finals series. The series is tied at one apiece as the Celtics embarrassed the Heat on Thursday night. Now that Marcus Smart and Al Horford are back for the Celtics, this will be a very competitive series. We see this one going the distance.

The Quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing, as we’ve entered the conference semifinals. On Friday night, the New York Rangers will play the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Edmonton Oilers will take on the Calgary Flames.

Saturday night’s action will have the Colorado Avalanche heading to St. Louis to take on the Blues. Colorado holds a 1-0 lead at the time of this writing.

And on Sunday, the Florida Panthers will be in a must-win situation as they head to Tampa down 2-0 in their series. The Panthers lost the first two games on their home ice, and they can’t afford to go down 3-0 to the powerful Lightning.
