Weekly Sports Recap & Update – June 23rd Edition

It might seem as if the sports calendar is starting to slow down a bit, now that the NBA and NHL Playoffs are done. That is not the case at all, though, as there are three interesting events taking place this weekend, and some great betting options exist as well.

Here is a look at three of the biggest sporting events set to take place this weekend from around the world in sports.

Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Travelers Championship

There have been three majors completed on the PGA Tour, but that doesn’t mean that all of the exciting events are over. Most of the top golfers in the world are actually playing this weekend in Connecticut as they attempt to win the Travelers Championship.

The odds to win the Travelers Championship looked pretty standard when they were first released, as it was Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler that were the early favorites. Scheffler is still in the mix heading into Round 2, but the rest of the odds have changed a bit.

Denny McCarthy shot -10 in the opening round to jump out to a two-stroke lead over Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley. McCarthy is now the second-favorite to win the event at +490, but he still has plenty to prove.

Scheffler is still the favorite to win at +225, and it’s hard to bet against him as he enters Round 2 just three shots off the lead.

London Series: Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals

It’s going to be an exciting weekend in Major League Baseball as the league sends two of it’s most iconic teams to London to play in a brief two-game series. The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals will meet up on Saturday and Sunday, and this should be a fun event.

It is the Cubs that are way ahead of the Cardinals in the standings at this time, and that was not supposed to be the case. Chicago has been red-hot of late, but the Cardinals did win two of the first three games against the Cubs this season.

The Cubs are the moneyline betting favorites on Saturday, and they will have Justin Steele on the mound. St. Louis just hasn’t been consistent enough at the plate this season, and that’s going to be an issue in this game as well.

Take the Cubs on Saturday, and they will likely win on Sunday as well.

Men’s College World Series

The Men’s College World Series Final Series is set as it will be a matchup of two teams from the SEC playing this weekend. The Florida Gators and LSU Tigers are set to meet up for the final series of the year, and it will be a great conclusion to two weeks of baseball.

Florida entered the College World Series as the number two overall seed, and they have looked dominant throughout their run. LSU pulled off a stunning upset on Thursday night as they knocked off the top-seeded Wake Forest Demon Deacons in extra innings.

The Gators are going to be favored to win this weekend, but it’s hard to overlook what the LSU Tigers are doing. Take the underdog LSU Tigers as they will win the College World Series championship.
