Weekly Sports Recap & Update – July 28th Edition

It’s another week coming to an end, and the start of another weekend of sports. It’s been a great week, and we expect it to be a fantastic weekend as well. Let’s take a look at some of the Top Sports Events for the Weekend:

Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles

Big series in the American League East. The Yankees may be in last place in the American League East, but they still have a shot at the divisional title. The division has tightened up, and now the Orioles have the lead. The two teams get together for a three-game weekend series, with a lot on the line. Also, Major League Baseball trade deadline is next Tuesday, so there are big implications before that.

3M Open

A week after the great action at the Open Championship, several of the top golfers are in Minneapolis. The 3M Open typically is a tight finish, so that’s what the fans will be hoping for when Sunday comes along. This is the final event before the month of August gets crazy with some season-ending big-time events on the tour. Lee Hodges was terrific on Thursday and holds the lead at -8, but Hideki Matsuyama, Brandt Snedeker, and Tyler Duncan are just a stroke back at -7. This should be a great weekend for golf!

Women’s World Cup

The Women’s World Cup will continue through the weekend as well. While the United States does not play again until Tuesday, there should be some pretty interesting matches throughout the weekend. On Friday, England and Denmark will square off. Then, Saturday, France, and Brazil will meet up, while Switzerland and New Zealand go on Sunday. The group play goes until August 3rd, and then the tournament style begins.

NASCAR – Cook Out 400

The best racers in the world head to Richmond, Virginia for the Cook Out 400. The defending champion Kevin Harvick will look to repeat, as he chases a few guys ahead of him in the cup series standings. Currently, Martin Truex leads the way, while Will Bryon is second, and has the most wins, with 4 wins in the NASCAR Cup Series.

F1 – Belgian Grand Prix

Last week, and all month Max Verstappen has been the racer to beat, and the opponents cannot. Verstappen is running away with the standings, with 9 wins, and 11 top 5 finishes. That’s in 11 races. We will find out this weekend, if he can make a clean sweep of the month of July, as they head to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium to Formula 1 race.

UFC 291

The Delta Center in Salt Lake City will feature UFC 291. Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje part 2 coming up. This is the main card, but do not sleep on several of the other fights on the card. This is expected to be a great fight. Keep your eyes on the Blachowics vs. Pereira fight, as well as the Thompson vs. Pereira tilt.

Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves

A pair of first-place National League teams get together in Atlanta. The Brewers are more in need of wins, as they are in quite a race with Cincinnati in the National League Central. The Braves seem to be able to go on cruise control and win their division with ease. It’s always fun to get to see Ronald Acuna Jr and Matt Olson play. This should be a fun weekend series of MLB.

There is our look at the Top Sports Events for the Weekend. We hope you enjoy the weekend, and August will be here before you know it! Football will be here soon!
