Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

The National Football League is starting its preseason play, and College Football is right around the corner. Let’s take a look at some of the Top Sports Events for This Weekend.

FedEx St. Jude Championship – All Weekend

The Top 70 players in the world in Memphis for the first of three events to decide the FedEx Cup Champion. Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler start at the top, but what movement will we see over the next four days?

This is a no-cut event, so all 70 golfers will advance to golf through the weekend. The weather should start to dry up and be hot. Look for a fun event!

Baltimore Orioles at Seattle Mariners – Friday, August 11th, 2023

Two MLB teams looking to get to the postseason will start a three-game series. The Orioles are holding on to the top of the American League East for dear life.

On the other side, Seattle currently sits in the third spot for the wildcard. The Mariners would love to improve their seeding and maybe move to 4th seed in the wildcard standings. This game will feature Kyle Gibson and Luis Castillo, a pair of veterans on the mound.

Green Bay Packers at Cincinnati Bengals – Friday, August 11th, 2023

NFL Preseason action sees a pair of teams with quarterback questions. Jordan Love should get the chance for the Packers following the departure of Aaron Rodgers.

For Cincinnati, their concern is on Joe Burrow and his availability to play when the regular season gets rolling. The first weekend of preseason action, and this is our favorite Friday night game.

Australia vs. France – Saturday, August 12th, 2023

FIFA Women’s World Cup action. This is part of the Quarter Finals. Australia blanked Denmark in the Round of 16, while France smacked Morocco around.

Australia went 2-0-1 in ground play, while France went 2-1-0. This should be a great game, with the winner heading to the Final Four.

Los Angeles Angels at Houston Astros – Saturday, August 12th, 2023

A pair of American League West teams are getting together for the middle game of the series. The Houston Astros are still trying to make a run at the Texas Rangers in the division.

The Angels chose not to sell at the deadline and have fallen flat as of late. There is still time for the Angels, but it’s running thin. Two good teams and several really good players in action here, including Shohei Ohtani!

Philadelphia Eagles at Baltimore Ravens – Saturday, August 12th, 2023

The Ravens are the kings of the preseason, but they will get a stiff test right away. Two talented, well-coached teams get together in the preseason opener for both teams.

Jalen Hurts vs. Lamar Jackson would be quite the matchup. Unfortunately, we won’t see both, but plenty of good athletes to go around in this one.

UFC Fight Night – Saturday, August 12th, 2023

The MMA world is back at the UFC in Las Vegas. The Luque vs. dos Anjos fight is one of the best, but there are several really good bouts.

Keep an eye on the middleweight between Dobson and Nchukwi and also the featherweight, which features Swanson and Dawodu.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets – Sunday, August 13th, 2023

Sunday Night Baseball. When ESPN slated this game for Sunday Night Baseball, they expected the first place to potentially be on the line. Instead, the New York Mets are out of the race.

You do get the team with the best record in all of baseball in action. The Braves will keep playing for momentum and a chance to improve on their best record for the top seed.

Kansas City Chiefs at New Orleans Saints – Sunday, August 13th, 2023

The NFL Week 1 schedule wraps up on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs have their first preseason game in a Dome.

Derek Carr is the new quarterback in New Orleans, and the Saints and their fans are excited. Carr is no stranger to seeing the Kansas City Chiefs in his career.

Verizon 200 at the Brickyard – Sunday, August 13th, 2023

Indianapolis is the host of the event. This NASCAR 82 laps and 200-mile race can be seen this weekend on NBC. Tyler Reddick is the defending champion of this event.

Last weekend Chris Buescher and Martin Truex ended up at the top of the standings at the FireKeepers Casino. Looks like a fun weekend of racing.

Atlanta Dream at Las Vegas Aces – Sunday, August 13th, 2023

Do not forget about the WNBA. Anytime the Aces are at home, great things happen. On Sunday, they get the Atlanta Dream, who are just over .500 on the season to town. This should be a fun game as the league starts to wind down its regular season over the next couple of weeks.

Those are a few of our favorite Sporting Events for the weekend. We hope you enjoy your weekend and enjoy the sports. If you are placing bets on these sporting events, best of luck and enjoy!
