Top Sports Events for This Weekend – February 5 – February 6

NFL

Now that we’ve figured out who’s going to be in the Super Bowl, the NFL is preparing for the annual Pro Bowl. This game wasn’t played last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the league decided to bring it back this season. The game will be played on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Although Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have opted not to play, the game will still be full of superstar players. While this game isn’t the same caliber of NFL football that we’re used to seeing, it will still be fun to see the league’s top players in action.

NBA Action

On Saturday, two of the most popular franchises in the league will meet, as the New York Knicks will head to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers. Even though both teams are struggling this season, and the Lakers will be without LeBron James, this is still a matchup that people look forward to.

On Sunday, the surging Philadelphia 76ers will head to Chicago to take on the Eastern Conference-leading Chicago Bulls.  Philadelphia has risen up to the second spot in the conference standings. Joel Embiid has been nearly unstoppable over the last month, as he has led the Sixers surge up the conference standings. Even though the Bulls are without Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, the return of Zach Lavine has sparked the Bulls. Between Lavine, DeMar DeRozan, and their supporting cast, the Bulls have one of the top teams in the East.

Two of the league’s top players that were traded for each other on draft night will square off in Dallas on Sunday night, as Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks will take on Luke Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. While both teams struggled earlier this season, both teams have seemed to have put things together and are playing well. We’ll see if Young is ready to return from his shoulder injury on Sunday.

College Hoops

On Saturday afternoon, we’ll see a huge Big 12 matchup involving two favorites to win the National Championship, as the #8 Baylor Bears will head to Phog Allen Fieldhouse to take on the #10 Kansas Jayhawks. Both teams have had a couple of tough losses lately, but both still have a great shot at getting to the Final Four. Not only will this be huge in the conference race, but this game could also figure in huge as far as the NCAA Tournament seeding goes.
