Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – Dec. 5 – Dec. 6

  • When: Friday, Dec. 5 – Sunday, Dec. 6

Saturday, Dec. 5

Soccer

Soccer fans should circle two league matches on Saturday. The first is a La Liga battle between Real Madrid and Sevilla. Neither squad has played great in La Liga, but both look solid to make it to the Champions League knockout stage.

The second top match happens in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich drew versus Atletico Madrid in their last match. They take on Bundesliga second-place team Leipzig on Saturday.

UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Vettori

Popular UFC fighter Jack Hermansson is back at it. This time, Hermansson will enter the Octagon a slight underdog versus Martin Vettori. Jack has a 3.5-inch reach advantage and 1-inch height advantage. Make sure to do your handicapping before backing either fighter in the UFC Fight Night main event.

Boxing: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Danny Garcia

Last October, Errol Spence Jr. suffered big injuries in a car accident. For the first time since the accident the undefeated Spence Jr. steps back into the ring. Errol fights a former champion in Danny Garcia on Saturday. Garcia is a +350 underdog. Don’t let the odds fool you, though. Danny can hit, which means this should be a terrific fight.

College Basketball

If you watch one college basketball game this weekend, heck, if you watch one this season, make it first-ranked Gonzaga versus second-ranked Baylor on Saturday. So far, the Zags have looked like an NBA squad versus high school teams. That’s how dominant freshman guard Jalen Suggs and Gonzaga’s front court has been.

Baylor was a favorite to win the 2020 NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament, though, before the pandemic caused the NCAA to cancel it. Baylor has returned enough to players to make a Final Four run. Sit back and enjoy this gigantic college hoops matchup.

College Football Week 14

Three games canceled due to coronavirus outbreaks: Michigan versus Maryland, Northwestern against Minnesota, and Kent State at Miami-Ohio. The four most interesting matchups on Saturday didn’t cancel.

Liberty takes on #18 Coastal Carolina in a game that could lead to a quality bowl bid for the winner. #5 Texas A&M, who has a shot to make the CFP, heads to Auburn to take on the Tigers. Over in the Big 12, #9 Iowa State hosts West Virginia in an important game for the Cyclones. The final big game has #4 Ohio State traveling to East Lansing to go against the Michigan State Spartans. Ohio State had to cancel last Saturday’s game due to the virus. Michigan State upset Northwestern in their last.

Sunday, Dec. 6

F1: Sakhir Grand Prix

On Sunday, Lewis Hamilton won’t get a chance to win his sixth straight Formula 1 race. The Mercedes driver tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. With Lewis out of the event, it looks wide-open. Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas should offer the lowest odds. Both have a shot to win, but who knows? Red Bull driver Alex Albon finished third at the Bahrain GP last Sunday. Maybe, Albon takes the checkered flag on Dec. 6.
Soccer

The English Premier League owns this Sunday. The two best games of the day are Liverpool versus Wolverhampton and Tottenham against Arsenal. Pool and the Hotspur, that’s Tottenham, are tied on the EPL standings at 21 points each, making their respective matches incredibly important.

College Basketball

#12 Villanova battles #17 Texas in Sunday’s top college basketball matchup. One of the best rivalries in college hoops happens when Xavier heads to Cincinnati. #11 West Virginia travels to Georgetown and #20 Kentucky heads to Atlanta to face-off against Georgia Tech in a couple of other interesting college basketball contests.

NFL Week 13

The Los Angeles Rams at the Arizona Cardinals is the most significant matchup in NFL Week 13 on Sunday. The two NFC West rivals will fight to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Two NFL games happen on Monday and one on Tuesday. The Steelers, now 11-0 after beating the Baltimore Ravens this past Wednesday, host the surging Washington Football Team at 5:00 pm ET on Dec. 7. Buffalo at San Francisco follows Steelers – Washington at 8:15 pm ET.

Then on Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Dallas Cowboys travel to Baltimore to battle the Ravens. Baltimore’s odds to win the Super Bowl have gone from +500 or so to start the season to +1800. The loss against the Steelers dropped the Ravens to 6-5, making the game against Dallas a must win.

Have a great weekend!
