Weekly Sports Recap & Update – April 18th Edition

It’s going to be a busy weekend on the sports calendar as there are a number of big events set to take place. Not only will there be some great sporting events to watch, but there will also be some interesting betting options available.

Two leagues are going to be starting the postseason this weekend, and that always brings an added layer of excitement and intrigue. The MLB season will continue as well, but those games won’t be among the biggest.

Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Here is a look at the top sports events for this weekend and some of the bets that should be made.

NBA Playoffs

The top 16 NBA teams are set to battle it out over the next two months and all of the NBA Playoffs will begin this weekend. The play-in tournament games will determine the final two seeds in each conference, and that actually could matter this year.

Boston and Denver are big betting favorites to win their respective conferences this season, but there is a ton of parity beyond those teams. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, but they might not even make the field.

This is always the best time of year for basketball in general, and it should be an exciting 2024 NBA Playoffs.

NHL Playoffs

The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs are also going to be getting going this weekend, and this is widely considered one of the best events in all of sports. There will be 16 teams with a chance to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup, and this is an event that always delivers some upsets.

This might be one of the best versions of the NHL Playoffs in a long time as there doesn’t appear to be a clear betting favorite. Look for some future betting odds to be available as well as betting options for each game.

NASCAR Cup Series at Talladega

The 2024 NASCAR season is off to a great start, and there have already been some exciting races that have taken place. That trend is going to continue this weekend as the top drivers in the sport are going to be heading to the Talladega SuperSpeedway.

The betting odds are extremely tight for the big race at Talladega this weekend, and there will be a great opportunity to lock in some solid bets.

RBC Heritage

Fresh off the win at Augusta National, Scottie Scheffler is the big betting favorite to win the RBC Heritage. This is a golf tournament that is played in South Carolina every year, and it attracts most of the top golfers on the PGA Tour.

Scheffler is clearly the best golfer in the world at this point of the year, but that doesn’t mean that he is going to be winning every single weekend. While it’s never easy to bet against Scheffler, he could be fatigued from playing in four tough rounds at the Masters.

This will be another great golf tournament, but it’s best to make a bet on one of the other top players in the field.
