Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – October 16 – October 17

Major League Baseball

The Fall Classic is upon us, but not before the National and American League Championship series are decided. On Saturday, we’ll see the start of both series, as in the American League, the Houston Astros will host the Boston Red Sox, and in the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers play host to the Atlanta Braves.

College Football

After some great finishes in last weekend’s games, we’re hoping to see the same in this Saturday’s slate of contests. The #3 Cincinnati Bearcats look to keep their playoff dreams alive as they take on the pesky Central Florida Knights. Cincinnati has traditionally had trouble with Central Florida, so this will be a big one for the Bearcats.

The University of Kentucky, ranked 11th in this week’s poll, will take its undefeated record into Athens to take on the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Kentucky doesn’t have an all-world defense like Georgia has, but the Wildcats have been able to contain some of the country’s top offenses. Georgia’s weakness is its offense, so we’ll see how they do against a good Kentucky defense.

National Football League

We’re on to Week 6 of the NFL season, and we’ll have some great games this weekend. The top two teams in the NFC North will meet and renew one of the NFL’s greatest rivalries, as the Chicago Bears will host the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers has always seemed to have Chicago’s number, so this will be a very tough game for the Bears. Green Bay has won some close ones this season, and this one could be the same.

Two of the top teams in the AFC will clash as the Los Angeles Chargers will head across the country to take on the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore had a huge come-from-behind win over Indianapolis on Monday night, while the Chargers won a shootout over the Browns on Sunday. These two contrasting styles of offense should be fun to watch. We could see another shootout in this one.

Another top matchup on Sunday will feature the league’s lone undefeated team, the Arizona Cardinals, heading to Cleveland to take on the Browns. The Browns look like a force to be reckoned with in the AFC. The Cardinals have one of the top offenses in the league, but it has been their defense that has stepped things up this season.

The Dallas Cowboys will head to New England to take on the Patriots. Bill Belichick always seems to find a way to slow down the league’s top offenses, and Dallas has a great offense this season. We’ll see if the coach can find a way to slow down Dak Prescott and his arsenal of weapons.
