Weekly Sports Recap & Update – May 13th Edition

It’s another action-packed weekend of sports action! In the NBA and NHL, we could potentially see numerous Game 7’s as their first rounds of playoff action come to a close.

In Major League Baseball, we have a few potential playoff matchups to watch this weekend.

And finally, we’ll have another great field of PGA golfers to watch down in Texas.

Let’s take a look at some of the top events in the sporting world for the upcoming weekend.

Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – May 14 – May 15

The Two Best Words in Sports!

We have the potential to hear a play-by-play announcer start their call with “the two best words in sports, Game 7”. We have the potential to see three Game 7’s on Sunday.

Depending on the outcomes of Game 6 in the Philadelphia-Miami, Dallas-Phoenix, and Milwaukee-Boston series, we could see a great day of hoops action on Sunday.

The Mavericks-Suns and Sixers-Heat series will play their Game 6 on Thursday night, while the Bucks-Celtics and Golden State-Memphis series will play theirs on Friday night.

We’ll see if any of the series need a Game 7 or if we will know our conference finals matchups prior to Saturday.

MLB Potential Playoff Matchups

There are five series this weekend that we could envision being potential playoff matchups. In the American League, the league-leading New York Yankees will head to the south side of Chicago to take on the surging White Sox. Another good series in the AL will feature the Toronto Blue Jays heading south to take on the Tampa Bay Rays.

In the National League, we have found three matchups that have caught our attention. The San Diego Padres will head to Atlanta to take on the Braves. Last year’s surprise team, the San Francisco Giants, will face off against the St. Louis Cardinals.

And finally, the Philadelphia Phillies will travel across the country to face the favorite to win the National League pennant, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

We should see some great pitching matchups in all five of these series. With all 10 of these teams looking to make a run at the playoffs, this should be a weekend full of great MLB action.

Next Stop on the PGA Tour

The next stop on the PGA Tour is the AT&T Byron Nelson from TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. With many of the top golfers on tour resting up or preparing for next weekend’s PGA Championship, this field is void of many of the world’s top golfers.

However, there are a few big names in the field, including Dustin Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama, Jason Day, Ian Poulter, Alex Noren, Xander Schauffele, and Jordan Spieth.

The Quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup

The NHL playoffs are in full swing, and we’re now to the Game 6 & 7 portion of the divisional round.

On Saturday, we could potentially see four Game 7’s. On Friday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins will try to close their series out with the New York Rangers, the Florida Panthers will head to Washington for their Game 6, as the Panthers are up 3-2, and the Calgary Flames look to end Dallas’s season down in Texas.

There’s nothing like the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and we should see some exciting hockey action this weekend!
