Even though NFL football isn’t taking place at this time of the year, it’s still a great time to be a sports fan. The NBA and NHL are in the heart of their respective postseason tournaments, and the MLB season is also heating up.
There are some great games set to take place this weekend and a solid series to look at in the world of baseball. Here is a look at some of the top sporting events this weekend and what might occur.
New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are looking to close out the New York Knicks on Friday night in Game 6 of their second-round playoff series in the NBA. New York was able to stave off elimination through winning at home in Game 5, but life in Miami hasn’t been kind to the Knicks.
Jimmy Butler is averaging nearly 32 points per game in the playoffs for the Heat, and this team should be ready to play well in Game 6. Jalen Brunson leads the Knicks, but he hasn’t always gotten much help in this series.
Bet on the Heat at -5.5 to put together a dominant performance to close out the Knicks in this one.
Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers
The Golden State Warriors travel to Los Angeles on Friday night to face the Lakers in Game 6. Los Angeles is one win away from eliminating the defending champions, while Golden State will try to keep its season alive.
Draymond Green had 20 points in Game 5 to help the Warriors stay alive, and Stephen Curry has been tremendous throughout the postseason. Los Angeles has two superstars, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis, and that duo has been getting the job done.
The Lakers are 2.5-point betting favorites, and it’s hard to bet against LeBron at home in a close-out game.
Edmonton Oilers vs. Vegas Golden Knights
Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinal series between the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights is set for Friday night. These teams have alternated wins up to this point, and the winner of Game 5 will take a considerable advantage into the rest of the NHL series.
Edmonton is the much better offensive team in this matchup, but Vegas is a tough, veteran team. The Oilers are slight moneyline favorites at -135 on Friday night, but it will be the Golden Knights that protect home ice.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics
The 76ers and Celtics will meet up on Sunday for Game 7 of their playoff series in the NBA. The winner of this game will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, and this has been a terrific series up to this point.
Philadelphia missed out on a chance to close out the series at home in Game 6, and they are now seven-point underdogs in Game 7. Boston came into the series as a big favorite, and they are going to get the job done on Sunday.
Take the points, but the Celtics will win in a tight game.
San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers are meeting this weekend for a huge series in the NL West Division. These two rivals are two of the best teams in the entire National League, and they should be playing competitive games all weekend long.
The MLB odds for this series will differ for every game, as the pitching matchups will help determine the odds. Los Angeles is the moneyline favorite at -145 on Friday night in the series opener, and the home team will take care of business.
