Weekly Sports Recap & Update – March 26th Edition

With the weekend soon arriving, we’ll be looking forward to the sporting events that we’ll get to watch. With the NCAA Tournament now down to the Sweet 16, we’ll get the chance to watch four games on Saturday, and four games on Sunday. We’ll also get to see some NBA action, along with the final weekend of Spring Training games in Florida and Arizona. We’ll get to see a very unique NASCAR event, as they’ll be racing on a dirt track. We’ll also get to see the top golfers face off in match play. Here are the top sporting events of the upcoming weekend.

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – Mar. 27 – Mar. 28

 

College Basketball

The NCAA Tournament has whittled the field down from 68 to 16. One of the #1 seeds has already been eliminated. On Saturday, one of the tournament darlings, the Loyola Ramblers will face another Cinderella story in the Oregon State Beavers. The other games will feature Villanova against Baylor, Oral Roberts taking on Arkansas, and Syracuse battling Houston.

On Sunday, the top seed in the tournament, the Gonzaga Bulldogs will take on the Creighton Bluejays. Another #1 seed, the Michigan Wolverines will take on Florida State. UCLA will face Alabama, and two Pac 12 teams will collide, as the USC Trojans will battle the Oregon Ducks.

 

NBA

In this weekend’s NBA action we’ll see a possible NBA Finals preview, as the Philadelphia 76ers will travel out west to take on the Los Angeles Clippers. Although Joel Embiid won’t be suiting up for the Sixers, this will still be a premier matchup. Both teams could have a different look, as the trade deadline is on Thursday, and both teams are rumored to be looking at numerous players.

 

NASCAR

In a unique event, the NASCAR Cup Series will race on dirt this weekend. The Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee has been converted to a dirt track for this Sunday’s Food City Dirt Race. There’ll be a unique qualifying event, as the drivers are looking forward to going back to their roots. This is one of the most anticipated NASCAR events over the last few years, and we will see how many people that normally don’t watch NASCAR tune in to see the dirt track racing. .

 

PGA Tour – Golf

The Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas hosts this weekend’s top PGA Tour event. The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play is being held this weekend. Most of the top golfers in the world are here for this unique match play event. Patrick Cantlay, Patrick Reed, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, Tommy Fleetwood, Colin Morikawa, Paul Casey, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and many others of golf’s biggest names are here to claim the title.

 

MLB

As Opening Day of the baseball season rapidly approaches, we’ll be seeing our last weekend of Spring Training baseball action. After this weekend, the teams will be headed back to their home cities to prepare for the start of the season the following week. Baseball will go back to their normal 162 game season this year, so the grind will begin on Monday, April 2nd.
