Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – Mar. 13 – Mar. 14

NCAA Basketball

This weekend marks the end of the college basketball regular season. The last of the 31 automatic bids for the NCAA Tournament are being decided this weekend as the conference tournaments wrap up. We’ll see a lot of great tournament action, as the Power 5 conferences (SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12) all play into the weekend.

The Big 10 Tournament will be one worth watching. The Big 10 currently has four teams sitting the top 10 of the AP’s Top 25. With Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, and Ohio State all having a shot at taking home the tournament title, this could be a fun one to watch. We also can’t count out the other five or six teams that even if they don’t win the tournament, have a legitimate shot at getting into the NCAA Tournament.

The Big 12 Tournament will also be a lot of fun. The Big 12 has seven teams ranked in the Top 25 with Baylor leading the way at #2. Many see this as Baylor’s tournament to lose, but the six other teams that are ranked may have something to say about that. Like the Big 10, this conference has been very balanced this season, and anyone could take home the tournament title.

How can we forget all of the Selection Sunday shows? Once all of the conference tournaments are completed, the NCAA Tournament Committee will put together the field of 68 teams for the NCAA Tournament. The selection shows are always some of the most anticipated events of the college basketball season.

PGA Tour

In the golf world, we have one of the biggest tournaments of the season taking place this weekend. The Players Championship heads to Florida to the TPC Sawgrass Course. This tournament has been a mainstay since 1974 and has one of the most loaded fields of the season. There are over 150 golfers in the field, and all of the big name golfers are at Sawgrass this weekend. The Players Championship has one of the highest purses of the season, with the winner taking home over $2 million. Rory McIlroy is looking to defend his title, and is one of the favorites to win again this year. This should be a great tournament to watch this weekend.

The NASCAR series heads to Phoenix for a busy weekend of racing action. On Saturday, the Xfinity Series will host the Call 811 Before You Dig 200. 43 Xfinity racers will vie for the checkered flag. On Sunday, the main event of the weekend will take place as the NASCAR Cup Series will run the Instacart 500 at the Phoenix Raceway. Brad Keselowski will start on the pole for this one.
