Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – July 16 – July 17

Golf’s 4th Major

The players have traveled across the pond to take part in the last major of the season, the Open Championship. The Old Course at St. Andrews is one of the most historical courses in the world, and will provide a great site for this year’s final major. Tiger Woods is making his return after a long layoff, and has struggled out of the gate.

After the first round, Cameron Young holds the lead. Rory McIlroy is just two strokes behind Young. Cameron Smith, Viktor Hovland, Dustin Johnson, Scottie Scheffler, Lee Westwood, and Bryson DeChambeau are not far behind Young. With Johnson and DeChambeau near the top, we’ll be sure to hear a lot about how they left the PGA Tour for the LIV Tour this weekend.

This should be a fun-filled weekend of golf action.

Major League Baseball

As teams are gearing up for the All Star Break, they’ll want to head into their few days off with some momentum. One of the top series of the weekend will feature a four-game set between the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins in Minnesota. The Twins currently lead the American League Central, while the Sox are in third place, just five games behind the Twins. We’ll see if Chicago can make up ground, or if their struggles will continue.

The American League East could possibly have four playoff teams. There’ll be two big series between AL East teams this weekend, as the New York Yankees will host the Boston Red Sox, and the Baltimore Orioles will head to Tampa to take on the Rays. Everyone knows the history between the Red Sox and Yankees. The Sox have been struggling, while the Yankees are running away with the East.

Baltimore is on a 10-game winning streak, and has climbed into playoff contention. They’ll take on the second-place Rays. We’ll see if the O’s can continue on their hot streak, or if the Rays can cool them off heading into the break.

Let’s Go Racing!

The NASCAR world will head to New Hampshire this weekend for a weekend full of action. On Saturday, the Xfinity racers will take part in the Crayon 200. On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series racers will run in the Ambetter 301.

Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Martin Truex, Jr. are the favorites to win this weekend. Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Larson are also picked to be near the top of the leaderboard.
