Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for the Weekend – Jan. 30 – Jan. 31

Farmers Insurance Open

Beautiful San Diego, home of the famed Torrey Pines will be the host site for this weekend’s Farmers Insurance Open. The players will be playing on both the North and the South courses this weekend. We will get to see some of the top golfers in the world in action, as these players love to play at Torrey Pines. We’ll get to see Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Reed, Bubba Watson, and many other of the world’s best golfers play at one of the world’s most famous golf venues. We should see some great scores at this marvelous course.

College Basketball

While January is usually reserved for conference action, two of the Power 5 conferences have put their conference schedules on pause to hold a special event. The Big 12-SEC Challenge takes place this weekend. We’ll see some great matchups this weekend, as we’ll get to see some ranked teams clash in this made-for-TV event.

The marquee matchup of the Big 12-SEC Challenge will see the 15th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on Rick Barnes and his 19th-rated Tennessee Volunteers. These two teams have both hit some hard times as of late, so we’ll see who can get back on the right track. Both teams have dropped in the rankings, and will want to prove that they belong back in the Top 10.

We’ll also get to see the 9th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide take on the 24th-rated Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma has come on strong as of late. They are coming off of a huge upset victory over the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday night, so they should have a lot of momentum coming into this much-anticipated matchup.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have stormed up the rankings. Nate Oats has put together a high-scoring, three-point shooting offense that opposing defenses are having a hard time stopping. Alabama also has one of the nation’s most efficient defenses, so they’re getting good things done on both ends of the floor.

NBA Basketball

This Saturday night, we’ll see one of the league’s biggest rivalries renewed, as the Los Angeles Lakers will make their way to Boston to take on the Celtics. The Lakers have the best record in basketball, while the Celtics are sitting near the top of the Eastern Conference. Both teams are loaded with star power, as the Lakers will bring the great LeBron James and Anthony Davis to Beantown. The Celtics are led by Jayson Tatum, Jalen Brown, and Kemba Walker. Brad Stevens’s crew will have their work cut out for them, as the Lakers will come to Boston with an unblemished road record this season.  This primetime matchup should be a lot of fun to watch.
