Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – Jan. 23 – Jan. 24

NFL Conference Championship Games

Sunday will be a great day for all NFL fans. The AFC and NFC champions will be crowned and we’ll then know who will be headed to Tampa, Florida for Super Bowl 55. The NFC Championship game will feature the Tampa Bay Buccaneers headed to Green Bay to take on the Packers, while the AFC title tilt will pit the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs who will host the second-seeded Buffalo Bills. Both of these matchups are full of storylines and both will involve some of the top offensive players in the league. We’ll get to see four of the league’s top quarterbacks in action.

College Basketball

With the conference races heating up, there’s a plethora of great college basketball action taking place this weekend. On Saturday, we’ll see 19 ranked teams in action. The top two teams in the country will both face stiff tests, as the #1 Gonzaga Bulldogs will face head coach Damon Stoudamire’s Pacific squad. The #2 Baylor Bears will face one of the top players in the country in Cade Cunningham and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. We should see a lot of quality college  basketball played this weekend.

The American Express – PGA Tour

This weekend’s tour event will take place in sunny California as the American Express will be playing at Jack Nicklaus’s PGA West course in LaQuinta, California. This field will be loaded with some of the biggest names on the PGA Tour. Some of the top golfers in the field include: Patrick Cantlay, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Tony Finau, Matthew Wolff, Paul Casey, and many others. This should be a very competitive event, and we should see some great scores from this stellar field.

UFC 257

One of the UFC’s biggest stars will be making his long-awaited return to the octagon, as Connor McGregor will take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. McGregor has long been one of the UFC’s most polarizing figures. His brash style, confidence, and his demeanor make him one of the sport’s biggest attractions. Poirier will be looking to avenge a loss at the hands of McGregor at UFC 178 in 2014.

McGregor could be rusty, as he has only spent 40 seconds in the octagon in the last two years. Poirier is a polished fighter and will have to avoid the striking prowess of McGregor. This fight has the potential to be a very exciting bout. Any time McGregor steps into the octagon, he creates a buzz, and the UFC fans have been waiting a long time to see him back in the fighting game. This should be an electric night at the “Fight Island” venue.
