Top Sports Events for This Weekend – January 22 – January 23

Two Saturday, Two Sunday

We have a pair of games Saturday and two more on Sunday in the National Football League. The postseason will start in Nashville, with the Cincinnati Bengals as underdogs at the top seed in the AFC – the Tennessee Titans. Then – the NFL world will turn to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, where it will be cold – and the Packers will host the upstart San Francisco 49ers. The Packers are nearly a touchdown favorite in that game.

Then – we move to Sunday – where Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers come off their win last week. The Buccaneers are looking to get back to the Super Bowl, but will face a tough challenge, as the Los Angeles Rams come to town. Tampa Bay is a small favorite in the first game of the day. Finally, the Buffalo Bills will invade Kansas City for the final playoff game of the weekend. The Chiefs are small favorites, and this is another game where cold weather will prevail. Patrick Mahomes against Josh Allen!

Basketball, Basketball, Basketball

While Saturday is a small slate of National Basketball Association action, we see a three pack of good games. The defending champion Milwaukee Bucks are in action, as they host the Sacramento Kings. Other teams in action are the upstart Cleveland Cavaliers, as they host Oklahoma City, and also the Phoenix Suns taking on the Indiana Pacers.

Sunday sees 11 games. The highlight of the slate – the Los Angeles Clippers at the Garden in New York to take on the Knicks. The Los Angeles Lakers are at the Miami Heat, and late at night the Brooklyn Nets are in Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves.

College, Too

While most of the best College Basketball teams play over the weekend, and there are a ton of great games – two of them feature both teams ranked coming into the game. Both of those games come out of the SEC. The first one on Saturday sees the Kentucky Wildcats on the road at the Auburn Tigers. Auburn is ranked 2nd in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Tigers are 17-1, and have won 14 straight games. Later in the night, the LSU Tigers are at the Tennessee Volunteers. The SEC is very competitive, and we expect this to be another one of those types of games. The Tigers have actually dropped back to back games, and fallen to 15-3 on the season.

Live from California

Finally – if you like great golf – the American Express is your cup of tea. Patrick Cantlay shot -10 on the first day and got off to a great start. Can anyone track him down? We will find out as the weekend rolls along with the American Express in California. This is a 72 hole weekend you do not want to miss!
