Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – January 21 – January 22

NFL Playoffs

The NFL Divisional Round of the playoffs will dominate the sports scene this weekend, with two games on Saturday and two more on Sunday. The weekend starts in the AFC with the Kansas City Chiefs (-9) at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Saturday night’s game is an NFC East showdown as the Philadelphia Eagles (-7.5) host the New York Giants.

Sunday starts with the AFC game again as the Buffalo Bills (-5) host the Cincinnati Bengals. The game between these teams was suspended and later abandoned earlier this month when Bills defensive player Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest. Hamlin has recovered and returned home to Buffalo, even visiting his teammates before their playoff win last week.

The final Divisional Playoff game of the weekend is in the NFC, where the San Francisco 49ers (-4) host the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas knocked off Tampa Bay Monday night, while San Francisco took out Seattle with a big second half in the Wild Card round. These teams contested quite the rivalry in the playoffs in the 1980s and 1990s and now get reacquainted this weekend.

College Basketball

While there aren’t yet lines out for Saturday and Sunday games in NCAA basketball, there are a handful of big games set for the weekend. On Saturday, No. 2 Kansas hosts No. 14 TCU in Big 12 play as both teams look to bounce back from a mid-week road loss. Also on Saturday, No. 5, UCLA puts their 14-game win streak on the line with a trip to No. 11 Arizona with first place in the Pac-12 up for grabs.

Overall there are 21 ranked teams in action on Saturday and three more playing on Sunday. Keep updating MyBookie all weekend to get the most up-to-date odds on the Kansas/TCU and UCLA/Arizona showdowns, plus the more than 100 other college basketball games this weekend.

European Soccer

The German Bundesliga is the last major league in Europe to return to action after the World Cup. The league comes back in a big way on Friday as first-place Bayern Munich plays third-place RB Leipzig. Bayern have won the league 10 straight times, but their starting goalkeeper Manuel Neuer broke his leg while skiing last month. At MyBookie, Bayern Munich is -118 to win on Friday, while RBL is +265 to steal all three points and close the gap.

The English Premier League also has a blockbuster this weekend as first-place Arsenal hosts third-place Manchester United. The Gunners are -115 at home, while Man United, who hasn’t lost since before the World Cup, are at +300.

NBA and NHL

The regular seasons for both the NBA and NHL are steamrolling toward the All-Star Games. MyBookie has odds on all the regular season games this weekend in both the NBA and NHL. Among the nationally televised games to bet on this weekend are the Milwaukee Bucks at Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA and the Pittsburgh Penguins at New Jersey Devils in the NHL.

Australian Open

The first grand slam of the 2023 tennis season hits the midway point this weekend. The top two seeds on the men’s side have been knocked out, but favorite Novak Djokovic is still alive and will be playing at least once, likely twice this weekend. On the women’s side, American Coco Gauff is on target for a showdown with No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.

Odds will update daily at MyBookie for the Australian Open, with individual matches available for betting along with futures bets.
