Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – August  21 –  August 22

Major League Baseball

In Major League Baseball action, we’ll see some important series being played this weekend. One of the series that could have playoff implications is between Bay Area rivals, as the San Francisco Giants will take on the Oakland A’s.

The Giants have the best record in baseball and show no signs of slowing down. The A’s are currently 2.5 games behind the Houston Astros for the American League West crown, and they are holding the second Wild Card position in the American League.

Another big series to watch will be the Chicago White Sox heading south to take on the Tampa Bay Rays. Both of these teams lead their divisions but are fighting for the best record in the American League.

Tampa Bay currently has the best record in the league but is just 3.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros and four games ahead of the White Sox. This one should be a fun series to watch.

PGA Tour

This weekend’s Northern Trust Open has some huge stakes attached, as this is the first of three events in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The Northern Trust is being played at the Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.

Because this tournament can lead to a huge payday, this field is loaded. Jon Rahm, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele, and Bryson DeChambeau highlight this field. We should see some great golf over the next few weekends, as the FedEx Cup Playoffs always brings out the best players in the world.

NASCAR Action

The Michigan International Speedway will be the host of this weekend’s NASCAR action. The Xfinity Series will be on the track on Saturday, as the New Holland 250 will be run. Austin Cindric, Ty Gibbs, Justin Allgaier, and Daniel Hemric are the favorites to take home the checkered flag.

On Sunday, the Cup Series will take center stage for the Firekeepers Casino 400. Michigan is one of the fastest tracks on the circuit, so we should see some excellent racing action.

Kyle Larson is the favorite to win this one. Larson has had a great season and looks to continue with his winning ways. Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, and Kevin Harvick round out the group of favorites that would love to win the Firekeepers Casino 400.
