Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – August 13 – August 14

Major League Baseball

As we’re getting closer and closer to the end of the season, teams are gearing up for the stretch run. With less than 50 games left in the season, every game is crucial. There are some big series this weekend that could have some serious playoff implications.

The Milwaukee Brewers, who have led the NL Central for most of the season, now find themselves in second place. They’re currently one game behind the St. Louis Cardinals. These two teams will meet this weekend in St. Louis. We’ll see if the Cardinals will still lead the division or the Brewers will retake first place.

The Baltimore Orioles are back in the playoff hunt, and they’re just ½ a game behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the final AL playoff spot. These two teams hook up this weekend at Tropicana Field. We’ll see if the Rays can distance themselves from the Orioles or if the Orioles can stay hot and overtake the Rays for the final Wild Card spot.

And last but not least, arguably, the two biggest rivals in baseball will meet up again for a weekend tussle, as the Boston Red Sox will host the New York Yankees. The Red Sox have fallen on hard times and are now in last place in the AL East. The Yankees have been struggling themselves, so they’re hoping that a trip to Boston is what they need to get back onto the winning track.

The PGA Tour

This weekend will be the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, as the tour will head to Memphis for the FedEx St. Jude Championship. All of the top names on tour will be in Memphis.

Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Tony Finau, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and Rory McIlroy will all be a part of this one. The players know that they need to play well in order to stay alive for the big prize.

The NFL is Back!

We’ve been waiting months for this, but the NFL is finally back! It’s not necessarily the action that NFL fans are craving, but we will see a weekend full of games as the NFL preseason kicks off. We’ll see almost all of the teams in action on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Those who have missed the NFL will be thrilled to see its return.

NASCAR

We’ll see a NASCAR Cup Series race under the lights on Saturday night, as the Richmond Raceway will host the Federated Auto Parts 400. Martin Truex, Jr., Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, and Chase Elliott are among the favorites to end up in Victory Lane on Saturday night.
