Weekly Sports Recap & Update – April 16th Edition

The weekend is finally here! Even though we don’t have a major event like the Masters this weekend, we still have a couple of days filled with some great sports action. We’ll see two divisional rivals face off in Major League Baseball action. In the NBA, we have a potential playoff matchup taking place on Sunday. The NASCAR Circuit will spend another weekend in Virginia, while the PGA Tour heads north to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Let’s take a look at some of the action taking place this weekend.

Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – Apr.  17 –  Apr. 18

MLB

We’ll see a possible NLCS matchup this weekend, as National League West division rivals square off in Southern California, as the San Diego Padres host the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Saturday, we’re scheduled to see one of San Diego’s prized offseason acquisitions, Yu Darvish, take the hill against future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw. Speaking of top offseason acquisitions, we’ll see a matchup of two of the biggest of this past offseason, as 2020 National League Cy Young award winner Trevor Bauer will make his third start as a Dodger. He’ll face off against former American League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell. These two teams could very well be the best two teams in the National League, so every time that they play will be a big game for both of them.

NBA

Sunday’s top NBA matchup will see the surging Brooklyn Nets travel to South Beach to take on the Miami Heat. Brooklyn has yet to play up to their full potential, as their Big 3 has yet to see a lot of floor time together. We know that James Harden won’t suit up, but we could see Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving face off against the Miami Heat. Miami hasn’t played up to its capabilities this season, but they’ve had COVID and injury issues throughout the season. If Jimmy Butler and company come ready to play on Sunday, this should be a good one.

NASCAR

This weekend’s stop on the NASCAR circuit keeps the drivers in the state of Virginia. It’s hard to believe, but we’re already on to the ninth race of the season. Sunday afternoon, we’ll see NASCAR’s finest take on the Richmond Raceway in the Toyota Owners 400. Ironically enough, the cars to watch in this one are the Toyotas. A Toyota has won four of the last five and seven of the last ten races at the Richmond Speedway. Sunday’s race should be a good one, as many of NASCAR’s top drivers have had a great deal of success at the Richmond Raceway throughout their careers.

PGA Tour

Coming off of the Masters, the PGA Tour heads north to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for the RBC Heritage. Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama decided to sit this one out, but this tournament field is loaded with some of the world’s top golfers. Collin Morikawa, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay, Lee Westwood, and Sungjae Im highlight this very tough field. After the first round, the scores were very good, and the top of the leaderboard was very crowded, so we should see an exciting tournament.
