Top Sports Events for This Weekend – October 15 – October 16

College Football

We have four games on the schedule that could have playoff implications. The first one being a huge SEC showdown. Josh Heupel has brought the Tennessee program back to prominence. They have a chance to make a huge statement this weekend, as they host the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Another big game pits two Big 10 teams against each other. The loser of this one will probably be out of the race for a Big 10 title. The Michigan Wolverines will host the Penn State Nittany Lions. Both teams are undefeated, and are battling with Ohio State for the Big 10 East title. The loser of this one will need a lot of things to happen in order to have a shot at the conference title.

In the Big 12, two undefeated teams clash, as the TCU Horned Frogs host the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The winner of this one has the inside track on the Big 12 title. And one other top matchup features the Utah Utes hosting the USC Trojans. The Utes are looking to play spoiler, as the Trojans are undefeated and have a great shot at winning the Pac-12.

NFL

The New York Giants are 4-1 and are one of the biggest surprises in the league. They have had a lot of injury issues, but they’ve seemed to overcome them. On Sunday, they’ll host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. We’ll see how good the Giants truly are.

Another top matchup features the league’s lone undefeated team, the Philadelphia Eagles, hosting their division rival, the Dallas Cowboys. Since Dak Prescott went down with an injury, the Cowboys are undefeated. Something’s gotta give in this NFC East showdown.

In a potential “Game of the Year” matchup, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills travel to Kansas City to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. These two are arguably the two best teams in the AFC, with two of the best quarterbacks in the league.

MLB Playoffs

We’ve got some great matchups this weekend. The best team in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers, will travel to San Diego to take on the Padres. In the other NL matchup, the Atlanta Braves will head to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies. In the American League, the Houston Astros will now have to travel to Seattle to take on the Mariners. The Yankees will leave the Bronx to travel to Cleveland to take on the Guardians.

Racing Time!

The NASCAR Circuit will invade “Sin City” this weekend, as the Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the XFinity Series and the Cup Series on Saturday and Sunday. In the Cup Series, we’ll see the South Point 400 being run on Sunday. This will be the first event of the Round of 8 Playoffs to crown this season’s champion.
