Top Sports Events for This Weekend – June 25 – June 26

Could Colorado Hoist the Cup this Weekend?

With an overtime goal on Wednesday night in Tampa Bay, the Colorado Avalanche took a 3-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Avalanche head home for a Friday night home game where with a win, they would win the Stanley Cup.

If they don’t get it done on Friday, they’ll head back to Tampa Bay for Game 6 on Sunday. At the end of Game 4, the Lightning looked like they were out of gas.

We’ll see if they come to play on Friday or if the NHL season will end with the Avalanche skating around their home ice with Lord Stanley’s Cup in tow.

Potential Playoff Matchups in MLB

We have two series where we could see potential playoff matchups. The first one is a huge American League series featuring the New York Yankees, with the best record in baseball, hosting the Houston Astros.

The Astros have the second-best record in the AL behind the Yankees. The first game of this three-game set will feature a big pitching matchup between Cy Young and Comeback Player of the Year candidate Justin Verlander, and he will be opposed by Luis Severino.

The other big series pits the red-hot Atlanta Braves hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Braves have made a huge run at the division-leading New York Mets and have climbed to within four games of the division lead.

The Dodgers are in a dog-fight with the San Diego Padres for the top spot in the NL West. This should be a huge series and one that we could see being played out again in October.

Now That the US Open Is Over…..

Last weekend’s US Open was full of drama. Now that it’s over, we’re back to normal events on the PGA Tour.

This weekend’s stop is in Cromwell, Connecticut, at TPC River Highlands for the Travelers Championship. Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Kevin Kisner, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau, and Sungjae Im headline the tournament field.

After Thursday’s first round, McIlroy and Schauffele were sitting near the top of the leaderboard. We’ll see if McIlroy can keep playing well or if someone else will win this weekend.

Let’s Go Racing!

The NASCAR circuit will be busy this weekend in Lebanon, Tennessee. On Sunday, the Cup Series will run in the Ally 400. Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch, Ross Chastain, and Chase Elliott are among the favorites to take home the checkered flag on Sunday.

Larson has been tremendous this season, and we’re anxious to see if he has what it takes to win the Ally 400.
