Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – January 28 – January 29

NFC and AFC Championship Games – Sunday

The main events are the two games taking place in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, and in Kansas City on Sunday night.

The 49ers and Eagles do battle in the City of Brotherly Love for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl on February 12. The Bengals are Chiefs going to Kansas City to decide the same thing for the AFC.

The Eagles and 49ers are the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the NFC, and it’s the most anticipated matchup of the season. The Bengals and Chiefs played in the AFCCG last year, and the rematch of that overtime thriller should be just as exciting.

NBA Weekend

Philadelphia isn’t all about football this weekend. On Saturday the Sixers, second in the Eastern Conference, will play the best team in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets. Also on Saturday, we get one of the great rivalries in all of sports, with the Lakers playing the Celtics in Boston.

On Sunday, a light schedule is highlighted by the Clippers at Cavaliers and the Pelicans at the Bucks.

NCAA Basketball Weekend

In college basketball on Saturday, the big game of the day is No. 10 Texas visiting No. 4 Tennessee. Other top-10 teams in action on Saturday are Kansas, Kansas State, Arizona, Houston, Alabama, and Virginia.

On Sunday, it is No. 1 Purdue hosting the Michigan State Spartans in a game that tips off at 12:15 pm ET, ensuring that it will be over long before the NFL kicks off.

PGA Golf at Torrey Pines – Saturday Final Round

The venue is one of the best on Tour, and the golf is usually some of the best of the early PGA season. Last year the Farme’s Insurance Open at Torrey Pines went to extra holes, with Luke List besting Will Zalatoris for his first and only PGA win.

Five of the top-10 golfers in the world are in San Diego this weekend, and 10 of the top-25, headlined by No. 3 ranked Jon Rahm who just won last week at PGA West in La Quinta.

Do take note, however, that this weekend the PGA will end its tournament on Saturday so there will be no conflict for CBS and the NFL on Sunday.

Soccer

The U.S. Men’s National Team is back in action for the first time since the World Cup. After Wednesday’s match with Serbia they play Colombia on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Over in Europe the English Premier League is taking a pause this weekend for the FA Cup. Last year Liverpool won on penalty kicks, and this weekend the defending champions play Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

In the German Bundesliga top of the table Bayern Munich takes on Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. The top match in the Spanish LaLiga takes place on Sunday between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad.
