Let’s take a look at the top events for the upcoming sports weekend.

Betting Action: Weekly Sports Recap & Updates

Top Sports Events for This Weekend – August  27 – August 28

Major League Baseball

With just under 40 games left in the season, the pennant chase is coming down to the wire. The Atlanta Braves will travel to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals this weekend. These are two of the hottest teams in baseball right now. The Braves are just 1.5 games behind the New York Mets for the NL East lead. The Cardinals are looking to pull away from the Brewers and take control of the NL Central.

Another important series being played is between the Baltimore Orioles and the Houston Astros in Houston. Baltimore is on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs, and they’re fighting to stay in the hunt. Houston has the AL West in hand, but now they’re fighting the Yankees for the top spot in the American League.

The Yankees have been slumping, and their lead in the AL East has been cut dramatically. They’ll head to Oakland for a long weekend series which could be just what they need to get back on the winning track.

PGA Tour

The Tour Championship is being played this weekend in Atlanta at the East Lake Country Club. This event is for the top 30 money winners on the tour this past season. The field includes Scottie Scheffler, Xander Shauffele, Cameron Smith, Patrick Cantlay, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, and Tony Finau. When you get a group of 30 golfers like this together, you’re bound to see some great action.

College Football Season

For you college football fans, it’s “Week 0” of the 2022 season. With 11 games on the slate, those of you who have missed college football will be thrilled that it’s back. Some of the teams in action this weekend include Florida State, Illinois, Nebraska, and North Carolina.

NFL Preseason Action

It’s the final weekend of NFL Preseason action. Teams will have two more weeks of training camp, and then the season will kick off. We may see some starters in action, but many teams have chosen not to let any of their starters see the field.

Racing Action

The NASCAR world heads to one of the most famous tracks in the world, the Dayton International Speedway, for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday night. Any time the circuit is at Daytona, there’s sure to be some fireworks. Some of the favorites include Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, and Bubba Wallace.
